As a clinical Lead nurse my role is to assign staff assignments for our Labor & Delivery Unit and many other duties as a team leader. Includes managing and delegating as the needs arise, while also having my own assignment.

Assess patient needs and developed individualized plans of care in collaboration with other health team members.

Attends deliveries as a nursery nurse or to assist with labor.

Circulates Caesarean Sections and Recovering in PACU.

OB Triage, Antenatal assessing

Provides lactation support and education

Mentors new staff members on nursing practice, policies and procedures.

• Attends deliveries including Cesarean Sections accompanied by Pediatrician or Respiratory Therapist
• Transition of both mother and baby from delivery to discharge
• Evidenced based education on safety care and needs of both mother and baby
• Supports breast feeding and are a Lactation educator with years of experience
• I embrace, support a mother’s choice on feeding preference and am willing to educate to help a mother be successful in her choice
• Fully promote positive bonding to include skin to skin and involvement in decision making in their care
• Provide emotional support of mother and am sensitive to provide the support needed in any situation that may or may not be pleasant
• Can provide other resources and direction a facility offers to help and support where needed

• Demonstrates leadership in a demanding unit
• Able to Delegate and direct the needs of the Unit required while maintaining safety to all patients
• Provide specialized evidence-based practice to laboring patients and can safely manage pre-term labor. Safe administration of tocolytics.
• Demonstrates and promotes health and well-being of both mother and infant before and after birth
• Manages safe administration of all Labor Inducing medications, pain medication and Epidurals during labor and Post-delivery
• Attends deliveries; vaginal and cesarean sections, caring for pre-term and full-term infants, twins
• Able to manage all care from birth transition while providing special needs of medications, IV medications and oxygen if required
• Able to recognize and safely manage Pre-eclampsia and HELP syndrome
• Management of PPH, supportive care, medications and procedures
• Follows evidence –based teaching and educating to patients and family while including them in all decisions of their care from admission to home care
• Able to assist Physicians on all experienced levels with all procedures related to Obstetrics and gynecology, Neonates
• Have built a strong trust and confidence level with all perinatal unit physicians from managing and providing the safety and well-being of all patients
