Bio diesel is defined as mono- alkyl esters of fatty acids obtained from vegetable oils or animal fats and is an alternative fuel for engines that is so much economical and convenient. Biodiesel can be used pure or in blends with diesel fuel in unmodified diesel; biodiesel is biodegradable, non toxic,
and reduce some exhaust pollutants.
Environmental concerns and energy crisis of the world has led to the search of viable alternatives to the fossil fuels, mono-alkyl-esters of long chain fatty acids is environmental friendly, non toxic, and safe term as a bio diesel. Different parameters for the optimization of bio diesel production will be
investigated in this study. Biodiesel was made by the well known transesterification process.
Biodiesel is made by catalytic synthesis through transesterification of triglycerides in the feed with methanol. Biodiesel is produces using homogeneous base catalyst such as sodium hydroxides or potassium hydroxides, because alkali catalyzed transesterification occurs easily. Biodiesel is an alternative fuel which can be used instead of conventional fuels. It has the same efficiency as conventional fuels and it can reduce the emission of pollutant gases which cause pollution. Waste oil is one of the biggest sources of feed stream. It would decrease so many environmental problems
and solve the waste management problems. Waste oil decreases the production cost of biodiesel and prevent the food vs. fuel conflict.
In recent time high cost of petrol, diesel is because of high demand and growth in automobile sector. Due to high price and highly polluted emission of green house gases biodiesel comes first as an alternative of conventional fuels. For the country like India biodiesel is a best option to fulfill the
social need satisfactorily. The crude cotton seed oil contains Methyl ester which is a good source of biodiesel feed. As discuss easily transesterification process is very much convenient process for producing biodiesel which is very much economical where methanol used in present of NAOH catalyst.
In this study we used response surface methodology. Which is one of the most widely used statistical modeling technique. We have used Box-Behnken design which also well known response surface method. The main advantage is getting efficient optimization in less time and work.
As we have discussed earlier the world is working for the alternative fuel we is renewable, non pollutant and economical. Now a day so many researches carry out on biodiesels from various sources of fatty acids by the transesterification process. But we have noted that the use of the
sources that are renewable and economical led us to the food vs. fuel conflict because most of the sources of feed stream for transesterification process are animal fat or edible oil. So we are working on the non edible source of fatty acids that is crude cottonseed oil. Another problem is also there that it is not only matter of producing alternative fuel but also it should be economical and feasible with all economical aspects. No one will accept costlier fuel than conventional fuel as an alternative so it’s the challenge for us to make it economical which can only be done by the optimization of the process parameter in such a way that we will get the highest conversion and yield with minimum input that are crude oil and other chemicals and catalysts.
producing biodiesel which is very much economical where methanol used in present of NAOH
