I started repairing copier and fax machines at the age of 19 and quickly fell in love with it. I truly love it when I come into a customer's office with a broken copier or fax machine and leave with a smiling customer and a repaired machine. I have many years of customer service experience and know how to communicate on a level the client can understand without being condescending. I'm always able to explain to the customer what I was doing and sometimes they'd be fascinated and would want to watch me work. I never had a problem with that. I always built up a good relationship with my customers and showed them that I cared. Later in life I wanted to start my own business in home repair and remodeling. So I was the one that contacted the potential customers and went to speak with them and I did all the estimates, employee hiring/firing, payroll, material ordering and purchasing, taxes and all the electrical work that was needed. After the business failed due to my Inability to compete with competitor prices I went to work as an Commercial Electrician with Capp Electric which is where I am currently employed.
Serviced and Maintained Ricoh, Savin, Gestner, Konica, and Panasonic copiers, printers and fax machines
Explained to customer what the problem was and how long it would take me to repair.
With the size of my territory I was usually able to get to around 10 customers a day.
Maintained a car stock and maintained an accurate inventory list.
Worked with little to no supervision.
Great customer skills. I would chat with the customer (those that liked to chat) while I repaired their office equipment.
Went to bi yearly training classes to get updated on newest models.
Sold copiers to customers that would be wasting their money on repairing old machines
Repaired and maintained copier and fax machines for xerox in downtown Austin
Maintained company vehicle and car stock
Explained to customer what the issue were and give them and estimated time frame for repairs.
Rebuilding machines during slow days
I started out with Besco (later got bought out by U.S. Office Products) as a delivery driver delivering the new copier machines. There were a few times when the copier and or fax machine would be malfunctioning when I delivered it and I would repair them with no formal training. This impressed my supervisor who asked if I would like to be a repair tech. The rest is history.
I repaired Ricoh and Mita copier and fax machines. I also Repaired Gestner high speed duplicators.
I even repaired time clocks.
I had the ability to talk well with the customers and my supervisor received countless phone calls from my customers complimenting me on my cleanliness and ability to not only repair their copier but explain to them what I did to repair it. I had the highest customer rating among 12 technicians
Although I have been an electrician for the past 7 years, I have always wanted to return the the copier repair field. I truly enjoyed the line of work and I do enjoy dealing with customers. I get a true satisfaction when I can repair the issue and take it personal when I can't. I have no problem asking for help. But I like to be self sufficient and be able to do the job with little to no assistance. I know it's been a while since I've done Copier repair and I know that technology has changed greatly since my last fuser rebuild or drum change out. So I know I'll need updated training which I am more than willing to accept. I believe I'd be a good asset for your company and know that with me your customers will get the royal treatment.
