- Operates deck machinery, booms, winches, cranes; mooring and anchoring ship, deployment and recovery of oceanographic instruments (Side scan and MVP)
- Serves on field party engaged in survey or survey support operations
- During small boat operations, serves as Hydrographic survey launch coxswain or Fast Rescue boat coxswain or crew member either near shore or offshore
- Trained numerous NOAA Corps officers and crew as HSL and FRB Coxswain
- Numerous launches and recoveries of hydrographic survey launches and FRB, underway, anchored and pierside
- Stand watches as required
