Summary

As an aspiring Researching Physician and Molloy Alumni, I have been able to experience what I expect to see in the future. Over 4 years I have worked under my mentor in cancer stem cell research, aimed towards Breast/Ovarian Cancer and Medulloblastoma. Predominantly focusing on culturing and performing genetic analysis. As a former Lab Technician I have honed my laboratory techniques, I now seek to further science in any capacity I have to offer.

  • Maintained strict aseptic fields when collecting biological samples, minimizing staff and patient infection risks.
  • Tracked collected specimens by initialing, dating and noting times of collection.
  • Prepared samples for shipping and disposed of bodily fluids in proper containers.

Research Intern

Molloy University
Rockville Centre, NY
05.2017 - 03.2020
  • Gathered, arranged and corrected research data to create representative graphs and charts highlighting results for presentations.
  • Completed research, compiled data, updated spreadsheets and produced timely reports.
  • Evaluated potential subject to assess suitability for planned studies
  • Executed corrective actions when test controls were outside specified limits.
  • Verified purity of specimens collected through Spectroscopy and Microscopy methods.
  • Planned, modified and executed research techniques, procedures and tests.
  • Assessed data using scientific methods while following all important specifications.

Education

Bachelor of Science - Biology

Molloy University
Rockville Centre, NY
06.2016 - 06.2020

Research Experience

Medulloblastoma & Cancer Stem Cells

Molloy College, Rockville Centre, NY Jun 2018- May 2020

  • Designed to observe chemoresistant cancer stem cells in aggressive pediatric cancer Medulloblastoma. Bioinformatics lead to the choice of specific developmental markers to identify varying levels of genetic expression in cancer stem cells. Cell culture provided aggressive chemoresistant cell lines for RNA extraction, mainly leading to PCR & qPCR.
  • Poster Presented at 52nd Annual Macub Conference

Breast/Ovarian Cancers & Cancer Stem Cells

Molloy College, Rockville Centre, NY May 2017-May 2018

  • Designed to observe chemoresistant cancer stem cells in both Breast/Ovarian Cancers. Extensive aseptic cell culture and an introduction to genetic separation techniques.

Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program Research Boot Camp

Molloy College, Rockville Centre, NY May 2017

  • Preparatory training in performing literature review and laboratory techniques

Presentations

52nd Annual MACUB Conference

Oct 2019 The Curious Case of Medulloblastoma: An Analysis of Molecular Alterations in Chemoresistant Cells

  • Published in MACUB In Vivo Winter 2020

Molloy University Senior Research Thesis Colloquium

Nov 2019 The Curious Case of Medulloblastoma

Molloy University Research Colloquium

Sept 2018 Cancer STEM Cell Markers Modulate Chemoresistance in Breast & Ovarian Cancer

Sept 2019 The Curious Case of Medulloblastoma: An Analysis of Molecular Alterations in Chemoresistant Cells
