It all starts with one step on the most important footwear tool called the Brannock device invented in Syracuse New York. The Brannock device measures the customer's foot one at a time left to right foot on the device, have your foot heel all the way back in the device in order to get the most professional, accurate & perfect measure in length, width & most importantly the arch length to determine the type of footwear for the specific adventures to meet the right fit for each and every individual customer needs, wants & beyond which leads to additional specific outdoor products that sync with the customers adventures in a seamless upmost professional manner which takes a Sherpa like myself Paul Melrose, a Footwear Specialist which experience of knowledge of the variety of products, to how to apply, engage with the customer by showing them products that best suits for each outdoor adventure by which you carefully take the time to listen to the customer stories of adventures in order to meet & go beyond the exceptional customer service in the outdoors.

• I even studied on my own Medical Podiatry footwear knowledge outside of REI in order to best fit medical customers needs to have no pain but feel happy with insoles, compression socks, fitness accessories to the particular footwear based off the customer medical stories.
• Greet, Welcome Customers to REI, Footwear Department, ask & offer for any assistance, any questions they may have while looking in your department or in the store.
• Job duties of a Footwear Specialist: Make sure your visual displays are neat, clean, dusted, shoe laces tied up,proper right or left shoe is out on display & in the proper place. As you look at the footwear wall in a overview, you see Perfect visual of the products by scanning the entire department left to center, center to right in a very careful scan. All accessories are align neat if all pegs or on shelves.
• Put fresh demo socks in sock bins on sale floor of footwear department, dirty socks in laundry bin in back employee ware house room.
• Stock products: Replenishment from back warehouse, truck to specific area in back warehouse to shelves to sales floor depending on where the products are located in back or on the sales floor.
• Help with truck days of unloading ALL DEPARTMENTS products especially if your work hours before the store opens up for business.
• Restock products from Customer Service "FRED" bins to Footwear Department.
• OPEN OR CLOSE Shifts: Visual prep to Perfect Presentation for our customers, neat, clean a WOW Impression, first look!
• Pricing labels: missing, incorrect pricing, price mark downs adjustments, Annual New Price Updates on labels. Accurate Price Labels
• Daily Price Reports - Footwear Department: Men, Women & Kids
• PREP FOR SALE EVENTS
• Prep for Inventory Day
• Inventory Day
• Answer Customer Phone Calls, local, out of state or International
• Answer Other REI Store Customer Request of a product to holds, pick up, or mail product. (Nowadays, Product Full Filament Process takes the place of department Customer Order Invoice to Mail & Ship)
• Filled Out Customer Orders Invoices to Mail & Ship
• Filled Out Customer Holds of the products keep either in Footwear Department or at Customer Service
• Wash your employee REI Green Vest
• REI Communications: We use radios, Desktop Computers, Mobile Devices for variety of use: SAP (Sales & Product look up to check product in stock or at other stores)
• Fold Clean Demo Socks and put in Sock bins for customer use
• Wipe & Clean Footwear seating areas
• Help Customers by offering them a shopping bag, cart, other products located in other departments, restrooms in the store.
