Beyond the work I did in the past three summers, I spent time devoting myself to extracurriculars.
I was the captain of Wyomissing's chess team, varsity track & field team, and cross country team for two years each. In my senior year of high school, I received the coaches' award for both cross country and winter track. In that same year, I organized and conducted a feasibility study pertaining to solar panels on the roof of my high school, eventually presenting my team's findings to the school board, arguing for the efficacy of solar panels on the school roof. Most recently, I scored points for the successful Duquesne Debate and Speech team at multiple tournaments.
All of these extracurriculars are not substitutes for work-experience, but they are proof of concept. I take pride in my flexibility, accepting any role the group requires of me, and fulfilling my role to the best of my ability.
I was primarily responsible for selling men's dress clothing and organizing online orders. Often, I was one of two employees on the clock, which meant helping multiple customers at once and cleaning the store in between.
I also received an unscheduled raise in my second summer on the job, when I was only of three full time workers in a store that grossed one million dollars a year.
Aside from learning the forms and etiquette of business formal attire, I learned customer service and sales skills from my two summers and change at Jos. A. Bank.
