Work History

Digital Fabricator

Ford Motor Company
Dearborn
07.2021 - 01.2026
  • On contract for 2 years
  • Designed properties related to early program development, while working with a multitude of mediums. (Inside/Outside models, clay models, foam models, show cars, stringer bucks, etc.)
  • Utilized software programs to complete daily tasks (CATIA V5/V6, 3DX, Teamcenter, and Ford work order system).
  • Collaborated with multiple departments to bring together design properties that meet program deliverables.
  • Engineered and design items that enhance the experience of studio properties in order to verify program intent.
  • Hands-on fabricator when necessary, to keep projects on schedule.
  • Liaised with the metrology department to meet program deliverables. Also, to stay up to date with industry scanning equipment and metrology methods used in the automotive industry.
  • Developed a modular e-drive unit to propel studio properties. This unit packages an electric drive motor, gear box, steering rack, remote-controlled steering motor, and a double wishbone suspension with air ride.
  • Collaborated with E-Tech (Ford's in-house electrical and software development team) to create 12-volt and 48-volt battery packs to power studio properties.

Senior Studio Technical Specialist

Rivian
Plymouth
03.2016 - 04.2021
  • Managed entire cradle to grave process of design studio properties.
  • Worked closely with designers, studio engineers and executive leadership to outline requirements for design studio properties.
  • Created RFQs and POs while working directly with supply base to order materials and parts for studio properties.
  • Designed, Engineered and Fabricated studio properties, including full scale models, seating bucks, whale bone models, scale models and show vehicles. (mediums used: clay, foam, wood, steel, SLA/SLS/FDM)
  • Utilized all machine shop and wood shop tools and power hand tools to fabricate studio properties.
  • Created CAD data to mill and assemble into studio properties. Utilized digital surface designs to solidify and section to fit into properties. Also managed all change requests, digitally and physically.
  • Conducted H-point measurements on benchmark vehicles as well as program vehicles, to verify occupant package requirements.
  • Scanned all clay property changes and aligned to mata data using small and large format laser scanners, as well as portable CMM. Also, cascaded all captured datasets to the entire design group.
  • Benchmarked and measured competitive vehicles and prototype components. The captured datasets were used to make many program requirements, including occupant packaging, storage volume, human-machine interface, mechanical components and overall vehicle package.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Data creation, part cleaning and finishing, machine troubleshooting. These parts were used in design studio properties, prototype and show vehicles.
  • Internship Lead: Mentored three interns the past three years.
  • Proficient in CatiaV6, Polyworks and GOM Inspect.
  • All above responsibilities were handled simultaneously.

Design Engineer

Caterpillar Inc.
Aurora
02.2006 - 03.2016
  • Designed a cooling system for diesel emission fluid (DEF) injector US Patent: US20130291523A1
  • Developed a Venturi exhaust tube with integrated dust ejector to decrease large particle intake and to prevent dust buildup in the engine compartment.
  • Designed machine hydraulic system layout, including the installation and model creation of hose assemblies, tube assemblies, sheet metal brackets, etc.
  • Other designs include, remote location engine oil filler tube and gauge, fuel system integration (pump/filter placement and lines routings), Diesel Emissions Fluid (DEF) system integration and lines routings, Clean Emissions Module (CEM) machine placement and support structure.
  • Collaborated with team leaders of different machine size classes, to create a common look and feel of the machine portfolio. This includes machine functionality and serviceability.
  • Provided engineering content for product support personnel to create parts books, serviceability documents, user manuals and marketing materials using Creo Wildfire4 and VizMockup software.
  • Teamcenter Section Captain/Team Leader: problem solve technical issues related to modeling and detailing. Also responsible for assisting employees with process workflow and the utilization of Caterpillar engineering standards and design guides.
