Duties include:

• Manages care from admission to discharge.
• Provides direct patient care, stabilized patients and determined next course of action.
• Collected blood, urine and other laboratory specimens and prepared for lab testing.
• Collaborates with physicians to quickly assess patients and deliver appropriate treatment while managing rapidly changing conditions.
• Monitors patient condition by interpreting and tracking EKG readings, identifying irregular telemetry readings and updating team members on changes in stability or acuity.

Burghfield Unit: 28 beds

Cases managed: Acute kidney Infection, Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Stroke, Chronic kidney Disease, Heart failure, Pancreatic Cancer, Skin Cancer, Psoriasis, Shingles, COVID-19, Pulmonary embolism, Myocardial infarction, Hepatitis B & C, Breast cancer, Bone Cancer, Gastritis, Respiratory distress, Lung cancer, COPD, ARDS.

Duties Include:

• Managed caseload of 8 clients per shift, providing education, treatments, IV therapy, venepuncture and wound care.
• Managed care from admission to discharge.
• Maintained detailed medical records and documentation with accurate, up-to-date patient information.
• Provided adequate care for oncologic cases including end of life care.
• Collaborated with physicians to quickly assess patients and deliver appropriate treatment while managing rapidly changing conditions.
• Performed vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, 12-led ECG, urine dipstick and bladder scanning.
• Provided clinical supervision to Healthcare assistants, and Nursing associates; supporting learning and development in line with personal targets.

Cases managed : Chronic kidney disease, diabetes, hypertension, stroke, acute kidney injury, heart failure, pulmonary embolism, myocardial infarction, HIV, exploratory laparotomy, post-appendectomy, post-herniorraphy, breast cancer, gastritis, respiratory distress, lung cancer, prostate cancer.

Duties Include:

• Performed various nursing interventions such as wound dressing, vital sign monitoring and specimen collection.
• Gathered patient health data through interviews and observation, documenting data in electronic records.
• Medical and surgical emergency care.
• Vaccinated patients to protect individuals from measles, pneumonia, influenza and other illnesses of concern.
• Assisted with admittance and discharge.
• Setting of IV cannula and administration of IV fluid and blood.
• Provided adequate care for oncologic cases including end of life care.

Bed capacity: 200 bedded tertiary hospital.

Medical Unit: 50 beds.

Cases managed: Eclampsia, diabetes, pre-eclampsia, placenta previa III and IV, placenta abruption, pre-term labour, premature membrane rupture, ectopic pregnancy, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and post-operative care.

Duties Include:

• Conferred with physicians to discuss diagnoses and devise well-coordinated treatment approaches.
• Accurately recorded patient medical information and vital signs to provide continued best possible care.
• Monitored fluid intake and output levels.
• Performed various nursing interventions such as wound dressing, vital sign monitoring and specimen collection.
• Managed care for post-operative patients through to discharge.
• Carefully monitored, reported and recorded changes in symptoms to ensure best care practices.
