  • Responsible for the deliver of roughly 8 million gallons per day (MGD) of potable water to nearly 40,000 consumers; produced through 4 of our 6 surface water treatment facilities.
  • Prepare the Daily Surface Water Reports (accounting for daily production numbers from each plant) and Monthly Production Reports that get sent to department heads and the Director.
  • Applied strong leadership talents and problem-solving skills to maintain a team of 15 co-workers efficiently, with the organization of manpower needs to sustain workloads.
  • Cultivated positive relationships with vendors and acquired numerous price quotes to deliver timely and cost-effective supply of services and materials.
  • Communication with department heads, governmental agencies, and labs to insure proper procedures and goals are being met.

Grade 4 Water Treatment Plant Operator

  • Treated raw water with chemicals such as aluminum chlorohydrate and C-309 in exact quantities to ensure optimum performance of our mixed media filters.
  • Collected daily water samples to test alkalinity, chlorine residual, UV254, pH, temperature and turbidity levels.
  • Adhered to EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Developed and implemented water treatment plant SOPs to streamline training and operations.
  • Maintained inventory of plant supplies, and ordered parts and equipment as needed.
  • SCADA operations and daily data entry.
  • As DRC (Directly Responsible in Charge) the Operator is in the lead man onsite at any plant, and all projects must first be approved by said person first on any given day.

Responsibilities very similar to a Grade 4 Operator, with the exception of only being qualified to operate a grade 2 level treatment plant; which refers to a different style of filtration, and greater safety protocols for water quality.


My starting title was as an assistant operator, which required diligent observation and learning in order to progress to where I am currently.

  • Read meters, optimized cl2 residuals, maintained tank heights, observed any possible problems, and recorded data. Monthly samples collected and delivered to the State lab.
  • Interacted with customers (heads of Home Owners Associations) as representative of company.
  • Managed routine maintenance activities such as system flushing, valve exercising and fire hydrant maintenance.
