I have a diverse background encompassing roles in the restaurant industry, political campaigns, government offices, as well as pet and patient care. Currently completing my psychology degree, I recently expanded my skills through a transformative semester abroad in Botswana. Additionally, I am pursuing a minor in Communication, which has deepened the connections I've cultivated both personally and professionally. Known for my strong work ethic, I thrive in collaborative environments while also excelling in independent tasks.
For the past couple of years, I've helped take care of my mother, who was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's in 2017. At first, my responsibilities were strictly to watch over her, and find ways to entertain her. Additionally, I cooked meals, and drove her around. As her symptoms worsened, my responsibilities changed. I began bathing her, feeding her, administering her medication, helping her stand, pushing her wheelchair, getting her ready for bed, and providing any other assistance she needed.

I completed a four month Public Health internship in Gaborone, Botswana. I gained firsthand experience observing community public health in action in government-run clinics, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and hospitals. Throughout my experience, I communicated with both patients and health care providers to gain insight on their perspective of healthcare in Botswana. I had the opportunity to observe general practitioners, cardiologists, pediatricians, oncologists, midwives, and more. I learned a variety of skills from cleaning wounds, to using a fetal monitor. Ultimately, this experience inspired me to pursue a future in patient care.
Additionally, I had the opportunity to test my skills and knowledge by volunteering at local organizations, conducting community assessments, and organizing a health fair/expo to provide community health services to a village in rural Botswana. Through a series of interviews with community members as well as months of research, I created a plan to address food security, safety, and sustainability in Kgope Village. In raising money for Kgope, I was able to integrate grain legume into their cropping system which was effective in helping a wide demographic, including those who had no experience growing their own food.
