- Leadership in the Agriculture and Sustainability Project involved spearheading a team focused on creating sustainable solutions for farmers grappling with issues like flooding or hurricanes. This included conducting stakeholder analyses, assessing market size, and proposing innovative alternatives to existing problems. Additionally, I played a key role in engineering a more effective levee design utilizing readily available materials. To gauge success, the team implemented Arduino water sensors to detect potential overtopping.
- In the Petroleum R&D project, I collaborated with a small group to explore alternative solutions for petroleum-run machinery with a goal of reducing CO2 emissions. Initial research highlighted the impracticality of biofuels for mass adoption due to cost constraints. Consequently, our team delved into cost-effective alternatives beyond biofuels, such as thermo-electrics. Despite lackluster efficiency, our exploration led us to an increased interest in hydrogen and nuclear energy as more promising options. Notably, this project is still ongoing, with continued efforts to explore and develop innovative solutions.
