Oversaw annual operational budgets of $5 million, providing contractual and financial management support to ensure compliance with federal regulations and technical leadership to two large global maternal health and family planning projects: (1) $80 million MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics, which saw a dramatic increase in access to emergency obstetric care, fistula repairs and management and long acting and permanent family planning methods in nine countries; and (2) $15 million FP2030 Networks, which successfully advocated for the importance of family planning globally by engaging government, NGO and professional body stakeholders.
Successfully advocated for the annual allocation of resources for each of these two projects by getting as much as 30 percent more than was initially allocated by leadership.
Reviewed and approved global and country-specific work plans, key project documents (global and country-specific work plans, budgets and reports, strategy and other technical documents), tracked the projects’ implementation and performance across multiple countries and managed deliverables.

Successfully built the team’s capacity to solve problems creatively, which contributed to systemic changes within a fragile health system that contributed to the dramatic improvement in national health outcomes over a five-year period [Malawi Demographic Health Survey (MDHS) 2010 and 2015/2016]. This included supporting District Health Offices to establish public-private partnerships to address resource constraints, use of the Score Card methodology to build the community’s ability to hold the District Health Offices accountable and performance based financing.
Supported the Government of Malawi to improve and strengthen different modalities of service delivery and best practices thereby contributing to the increase in the national modern contraceptive rate of 42 percent of married women in 2010 to 58 percent in 2015/2016, reduction in stunting by 10 percent (MDHS 2010 and 2015/2016); and the Government of Malawi's achievement of the child survival MDG 4.
