1) AIAA/ Blue Origin Design, Build, Launch Competition
Apr 2021 - Present
Project Overview:
Along with my teammates Jaden Shawyer and Anna Porter Puckett, I was involved in the Acoustic Levitator Payload, where we built an acoustic levitator payload from scratch and sent it to space on the Blue Origin rocket for microgravity research. We attempted to demonstrate the levitation of a metal ball in space. We worked on this project for over two years with our mentors.
Role as Project Manager:
- Created Gantt charts and Kanban boards to keep track of the project schedule
- Conducted FMEA analysis
- Maintained Bill of Materials for all parts of the Payload
- Created flowcharts to assign tasks and project updates to teammates
Role as Software Engineer:
- Wrote algorithms to carry out a fully autonomous experiment
- integrated Raspberry Pi and Arduino for the experiment
- Utilized Python and C++ language
- Create object tracking code with OpenCV
- Represented software processes with flowcharts and state diagrams
Role as Mechanical Engineer:
- Designed both the external and internal structure of the payload with CAD
- Used Dremel and learned basic soldering skills
- conducted data analysis from payload testing in Excel
2) The American Rocketry Challenge (mid-power rocketry)
Sep 2020 - Jun 2021
Roles: Team Leader / Chief Engineer
- built mid power rockets reach 800 feet in altitude with a flight duration of 40-43 seconds
- simulated flights through RockSim and OpenRocket
- Designed fins, nosecones, and transition tubes with CAD
- made various mixtures of solid rocket fuel at home.
- Conducted post-flight data analysis with MS Excel
- Planned tasks through flowcharts
- selected in the top 100 teams in the United States.
3) Cyberstart America Capture-the-flag (CTF) challenges
Oct 2019 - Feb 2023
- National semifinalist in Cyberstart America CTF
- Performed network packet capture analysis in Wireshark
- performed steganography on image files with Autopsy and Steghide
- performed SSH, Javascript, buffer overflow attacks
- used password cracking tools such as John the Ripper
- wrote code in Python
