Quintin Fischer

• I have made myself well acquainted with the city of Flagstaff and the campus of NAU
• I chose NAU because my family has a legacy here
• My grandparents attended the school in the '60s and received their Master's in teaching
• My mother followed suit received her bachelor's and went on to work with troubled kids in Juvenile detention as a Juvenile Probation Officer
• I then carry the legacy striving to become a Wildlife Biologist

I was an intern with the Arizona Game and Fish department and was responsible for helping run the Sonoran Pronghorn Project during the summer of 2024. My roles included:

• fence maintenance
• transporting hay and water
• cleaning feeding areas
• using telemetry
• glassing animals for hours at a time
• data collection

• Successfully harvested a wide variety of grasses and other flora into large bales that were made from, hay/Alfalfa, Wheat straw, Sudan, and Teff grass
• I operated heavy machinery for long periods, nearly up to 20+ hours in a single day
• I maintained heavy machinery by greasing different moving parts, keeping the diesel tank full, and blowing off debris that was collected on the machinery over the day
• I would transport heavy machinery across Yuma County, some trips took over a few hours
• My hours would be long and tiring, each week I would work around 90+ hours

• This was my first time working full-time, it had taught me a strong work ethic and to keep pushing no matter how tough the circumstances were
• Whether it was blazing heat at 3:00 PM and there were still 30 more acres that needed harvesting
• Or if it was a chilly evening in an alfalfa field at 3:00 AM

• I assisted as a volunteer in the construction of a water tank
• The water tank is in the Tinajas Altas Mountains southeast of Yuma, Az
• I spent 3 days total out there with my dad
• I helped: Mixing and pouring concrete
• Taught younger volunteers about the importance of what we were doing
• Provided direction for younger volunteers
• Gather large rocks for spring water to flow through into the main wells

• Company Overview: Extra Life is a nonprofit that helps raise money for kids who are down on their luck and stuck in hospitals
• I helped raise over $5000 along with a whole club to raise money for sick children
• After the money is raised, for 12 hours the whole club gets together to have fun and play games, we are further encouraged to donate more money to the organization
