- In one week, I would travel the distance of 4,500 miles in cooperation with my team driver, employee. We would average two to five stops in the continental U.S., which includes military bases, while managing our time and staying in communication with brokers and receivers throughout the travel.
- The vehicle that was utilized in the operation had the specifications of being a 5-axle tractor with a 53-foot refrigeration trailer. I was tasked with the transportation of food, which requires attention to detail to prevent spoiling.
- I was responsible for both pre- and post-trip inspections (i.e., checking the condition of the tires, ensuring correct oil levels, ensuring that the lights are in operation, checking the refrigeration unit and corresponding alarm indicators, and the security of the fifth wheel), managing ELD logs, and communicating with brokers, shippers, and receivers.
- As the owner, I managed the responsibilities of the business operations, handling administrative tasks, finances, permits, and maintaining client relationships.
- If I were allowed in the facility by the shipper, I would ensure that the cases and pallets are in good condition. I would advise the forklift driver on how to distribute the weight to ensure it is within the regulation standards.
