Professional communication
undefinedI have a deep appreciation for engagement with people who like myself, come from marginalized communities. Poverty is an accident of birth to the person it befalls, yet poverty creation is deliberate and engineered through oppressive structures and actors. While far from ideal, poverty is powerfully transformative, and often a catalyst for unshakable ambition and character development. As an African-American woman, having experienced lifelong racial marginalization, and an early family history of poverty, I am powerfully drawn to Africa- the continent of my unknowable lineage where people are striving to overcome barriers to prosperity, good health, and well-being. I am passionate about exploring creative and innovative methods of poverty alleviation through painting, writing, jewelry making, and other means of cathartic self-expression. I have ideas about how this might be achieved.
