I have been employed with the Pinal County Attorney's Office since 2006. I began as a legal secretary providing victim notification for juvenile, felony, and justice court criminal cases. I generated the majority of the post conviction notification request forms for all caseloads. I prioritized my workload daily to ensure statutory and departmental requirements were met.
In 2014 I promoted to a victim advocate position. I have worked within the major crimes bureau since becoming an advocate. My current caseload consists of advocating for victims of homicide, assault, sexual assault, child abuse, child molestation and domestic violence. Several of the homicide cases are capital cases. I have also managed justice court cases.
In my role as a victim advocate, I recognized the need for a victim impact statement formatted for minor victims. I assisted in creating a stakeholder group including law enforcement, prosecutors, judges, and DCS representatives to provide input on implementing a victim impact statement specifically for minor victims. The minor victim impact statement is now included in a workbook to help minor victims navigate the court process.
I have attended employee interviews to assist with the hiring of departmental employees. I have assisted in the training of employees including monitoring work for accuracy. I have contributed to the preparation/updating of the training manual and letter templates. For a period of time I kept inventory of supplies for our office and placed orders as needed.
I have a solid knowledge of victims' rights, statutory guidelines for both notification and advocacy, and resources/programs available to victims including the Crime Victim Compensation program. I have effective working relationships with other agencies including law enforcement, diversion, probation, DCS and other victim witness programs. I have maintained a high victim satisfaction rate from returned victim satisfaction surveys.
