Work History

Optical Engineer, Headlamps and Rear lamps

Marelli Corporation
04.2024 - Current
  • Signal Function Engineer in the lighting division for Rear lamps and Headlamps
  • Developed k-light thin module projector for JL JT MY28 Jeep SAE and ECE versions, achieving optimal throw at 3-lux range for high and low beam requirements, reducing hotspot and width at 30m distance compared to k-light module, resulting in winning the quote.
  • Stellantis JL JT MY28 Jeep with the K-light thin module Headlamp SAE and ECE base version
  • Stellantis JL JT Jeep with a K-light module Headlamp for an SAE premium version
  • Stellantis D6U Headlamp Reflector design Base version
  • Ford P833 Projector module Headlamp
  • Hyundai BC4 CUV Rear lamp Stop and Turn with Bulbs and LEDs
  • Stellantis R7P Headlamp Base version SAE Turn Indicator and Position
  • Nissan P13C RFI Headlamp with an off-the shelf projector
  • Ford U718 and U611 Headlamp RFI for DRL, Turn and Position.
  • Designed Stop and Turn Function with Bulb versions, addressing thermal conditions through optical improvements, effectively resolving thermal issues and achieving favorable results in lit mockup as per customer changes.
  • Led the JL-JT Jeep award program with the thin module.

Optics Engineer, Display systems

L&T Tech Services
08.2021 - 01.2023
  • Marelli Corporation (Heads-up display)-Working on a 14” TFT display monitor (for the car’s dashboard) to measure uniformity and brightness levels. The display unit consists of an LCD, a diffuser, polarizer film and a Back enhancement film.
  • Increased lightguide efficiency by redesigning components to improve brightness on the front panel and bottom tray.
  • Analyzed LED-illuminated pointer to assess uniformity distribution from center to end, ensuring optimal visual performance.

Optics Engineer

Mantra Softech
06.2019 - 07.2020
  • Modified aspheric lens to enhance optical contrast in biometric fingerprint scanner (FAP20), improving image quality for better recognition accuracy.
  • Developed testing apparatus for metrology applications to accurately measure radius of curvature, focal length, and thickness, ensuring precision in optical component specifications.
  • Contributed to development of biometric technology, focusing on enhancing security features and user experience.

Optics Design Engineer

Hubbell Incorporated
06.2015 - 03.2019
  • Fresno Bollard (Spaulding Hubbell Outdoor Lighting): This required optics design for beach walkways (Turtle-friendly applications) for which mid-power LEDs were selected and modeled.
  • Chalmit Evolution II LED Retrofit The goal of this project was to design an LED retrofit kit for Hazardous areas. Based on the mechanical design and constraints given, COB LEDs were selected and modeled to achieve the required lumens and beam illumination area.
  • Designed TIR lenses to achieve illuminance for type five and type two distributions.
  • Conducted ray trace simulations to determine optimal LED housing distances, minimizing light trapping and enhancing overall illumination.
  • Analyzed 3D model of LED fixture upgrade kit to optimize distance between LED and housing for improved light distribution.
  • Created light pipe and aspheric lenses for a work light crimp tool to enhance visibility in dark conditions.
  • Prescolite (Downlight reflector Design) Designed a 45-degree reflector for a downlight application. Mechanically changed some of the parts to lower the height of the LED holder and increase the top surface of the reflector. Since there were other mechanical constraints, was able to achieve 38 degrees.
  • Analyzed scattering results for LCAT fixture using acrylic diffusers for outdoor applications, validating photometric results against Zemax simulations.

Junior Scientist

Shankar Netralaya
03.2015 - 05.2015
  • Designed and set up experiments with photorefractor to investigate infant accommodative responses, contributing to understanding early visual development.
  • Utilized Adaptive Optics Aberrometer (Shack Hartman Wavefront Sensor and Deformable mirror) to assess contrast sensitivity in human eye, aiding in foveal vision correction research.
  • Conducted experiments to support research in ophthalmology and vision science.
  • Analyzed data using statistical software to identify trends and patterns.
  • Collaborated with senior scientists on innovative research projects and methodologies.

Optical Designer

Optonicus
01.2014 - 03.2014
  • Re-designed photonic crystal-based fiber coupling system to enhance compactness and improve mechanical integration.
  • Developed opto-mechanical design aligning system with Optonicus INFOCO transmitters for precise beam collimation, pointing, steering, and vibration stabilization.
  • Conducted tolerance and thermal analysis assessing design sensitivity to misalignments and temperature extremes.
  • Used off-the shelf achromatic lenses to collimate and focus the beams into the fiber.
  • Designed an apochromat lens with these three wavelengths based on the specifications given. The lens was designed to collimate the beams over free-space for further experiments.
