Born and raised in Beijing, Ran Jing is an award-winning writer, director. Her 2017 live action short film Fish Stew was selected by multiple international film festivals, including HollyShorts, NewFilmmakers NY, and the Chinese American Film Festival. She has taught as a guest lecturer at NYU as well as the School of Visual Arts, and has served as a judge for the Emmys, Northwest Animation Festival and ASIFA East. Model is Ran’s first feature film. It premiered at the 43rd Asian American International Film Festival and won the Emerging Director award. The film was theatrically released in China in October 2021. Prior to that, She has worked closely with award-winning producers and directors, including Jorge R. Gutierrez, Aron Warner, and Carlos Saldanha, as a story artist on animated feature films, such as Peanuts, The Book of Life and the Rio franchise.
