Work History

Event Operations Manager/ Public Address Announcer

The D Zone
Detroit, MI
12.2024 - Current

'The D Zone' is a social media based recruiting platform that primarily covers Michigan High School football and basketball. Student athletes work in conjunction with the D Zone staff to assist with exposure/ recruiting to help prepare for athletic competition at the college level. The D Zone frequently hosts large scale basketball showcase tournaments at various venues where there are (5) to (10) basketball games in one day. I was recruited by the D Zone to coordinate / oversee the event operations at these showcase tournaments as it pertains to gate fees, concessions, team locker room facilities, officials/ referees schedule, and overall venue security. During these tournaments, I arrange for 'special attention patrol' details with local law enforcement agencies given the high volume of spectators/ high school students from multiple different schools in the same venue at the same time. When needed, I also provide the 'play by play' / public address announcing for the games.

This includes but is not limited to monitoring hotel lobby and parking lot traffic, constant presence on player's floors, and observing/ reporting any suspicious activity to the appropriate administration. Depending on the requests/ needs of the visiting team, this detail is active 24hrs during the visiting team's occupancy at the establishment. In addition to the general floor security, the detail assists as needed with the coordination of the team's transportation busses, traffic direction, and the K9 sweeps of the luggage and equipment prior to the departure for Ford Field.

School Security Specialist / School Safety Officer

Utica Community Schools
Sterling Heights, MI
09.2021 - Current

Utica Community Schools is the second largest school district in the state of Michigan. As one of fourteen retired police officers employed by UCS as a 'Security Specialist', I am personally assigned to three of our school buildings within the district to handle security and safety needs. This includes being responsible for the implementation of UCS Emergency Operation Plans and Standard Response Protocols that UCS staff and students must adhere to in their respective schools/ buildings. My primary base of operations is out of the Utica Alternative Learning Center, which is also the site of the UCS UCNCT program (adult special needs development program). In addition to dealing with all security / safety issues within my respective buildings (fights/ conflicts, peer mediation, criminal activity, substance abuse, building safety, etc) I am also a 'liason' between UCS staff/ administration and local law enforcement when the situation arises. Furthermore, my role has greatly expanded within my main building and I am frequently sought out by students seeking guidance/ advice for an array of different issues they may be dealing with as they grow from teenager to young adult.
