Worked as consultant on Classic Migration Project to retire legacy Auto & Property policy processing systems by replatforming them to Guidewire Policy Center version 10 in the Guidewire Cloud.

My role on this effort was that of a Guidewire Policy Center developer included working on:

  • Product Model Changes;
  • Data Model Extensions;
  • Workflows;
  • Activities;
  • Validation & Underwriting Rules;
  • Documents/Forms configuration;
  • PCF (page configuration file) changes in Guidewire's User Interface;
  • G-Unit tests for local developer testing.
  • Worked extensively with Business Analysts to identify any requirement gaps in user stories.

  • Began career working on agency applications utilizing legacy type structured technologies, COBOL, CICS, NATURAL/ADABAS.
  • Transition to object oriented development with Delphi and its use of Object Pascal and accompanying backend database Paradox as needed with the transitioning of that agency application;
  • Continued my object oriented programming journey with java development on many company developed claims applications.
  • In 2010 began my Guidewire journey as my employer made a big decision to use Guidewire to create a new Policy Processing System for Auto, Property, Umbrella policies. Attended Guidewire lead classes on-site to get all the basics of Guidewire development.
  • My Guidewire journey began with Policy Center version 4, followed by version 7, and version 10 (on premise and in the Guidewire Cloud).
  • Thru this journey, I have accumulated extensive knowledge in : G-Units; PCF File Configuration; Documents/Forms Configuration; Workflows; Product Model; Activities; GX Models; Batch processing; Guidewire Cost Objects; Underwriting Rules; Validation Framework, to name a few.
  • In additional to all tasks associated with developing code, I have never hesitated to jump into any other areas of projects to lend a hand. Examples are working with Business Analysts in their creation of requirements and accompanying user stories. I have also stepped in numerous times to help out testing teams however I can. This included learning the Karate Testing Framework to support our testing team on another large Policy Center application.
  • Being a member of the Policy Center Production Support Development team allowed me to diagnose and resolve many complex policy issues on production Guidewire policies.
  • Along my journey, I have have taken on many additional tasks- lead developer, mentoring junior resources, creating project documentation, presentations to management, standards committees, etc.
