Oversee and perform internal audits to ensure regulatory compliance in an assigned area such as documentation, coding, insurance, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and research. To educate physicians and departmental staff on regulatory compliance guidelines, privacy regulations, research regulations, coding and billing requirements.

• Performs audits on an assigned area or unit on the Jackson campus as well as those in other areas of the state as needed and reports results to appropriate personnel.
• Participates in the development of educational and training programs that focus on elements of the compliance program; explains compliance program guidelines, policies, and procedures to departmental staff and physicians.
• Analyzes operating procedures, identifies potential violations, and provides technical assistance/recommendations to management.
• Collaborates with managers to identify aberrant trend in the coding, billing, privacy, research, and other compliance areas.
• Confers with external auditor to ensure compliance of an assigned area.

• Initially started as an Inpatient Auditing Lead and ended up assisting with the onboard of a new client resulting in being promoted to Coding Manager.
• Assisted with pre bill audits for inpatient and outpatient.
• Approved timesheets and time off request ensuring appropriate coverage.
• Mentored junior coders, enhancing their skills and knowledge through targeted coaching and guidance.
• Organized regular team meetings to foster collaboration, share updates on project status, and address any challenges or concerns as they arose.
