Survey Lab Supervisor

5 Years
Public Policy Research Institute | 01.2014 - 01.2019
  • I started as an interviewer where my duties were to call the projects I was assigned to (as well as any Spanish Callbacks that were given to me) and make outbound calls to conduct surveys over the phone. Engaged with study participants who often were not interested in participating in the studies and could become belligerent. Would have to convince them to participate in optional studies.
  • Over the course of a year and a half I was trained on every project. When a supervisor position opened up I was selected from over 40 of my peers to be a supervisor. I performed basic clerical work, (answering phones, copies, faxes, putting together and organizing packets and training information, creating and modifying spreadsheets). I was in charge of interviewing, hiring, and training new interviewers. Trained interviewers on all of our programs as well as upgraded training material to be up to date and current with any new systems that would be introduced to our procedures.
  • My duties also included monitoring interviewers and providing constructive criticism on how to improve their performance. Delegating studies to interviewers based on their efficiency and optimal skill levels, including but not limited to Spanish call backs, specific appointments and over all capability to de-escalate difficult respondents. Organized and kept track of all of our Spanish Callback records so that they could be systematically called in the most time conducive manner.
  • I also took the initiative to consolidate training materials with materials that I developed to create a centralized means to access material for interviewers, supervisors, and assistant supervisors.
  • Developed and implemented quality control measures to enhance research accuracy and reliability.
  • Mentored junior staff on laboratory techniques and best practices for efficient workflow management.
  • Led training sessions on new technologies and methodologies to improve team competencies.
  • Mentored junior staff members to foster professional growth, skill development, and career advancement opportunities within the organization.
