Caregiving Sabbatical

Took time away from my professional career to be a full time mother and medical caregiver to my adolescent son who later passed away. I spent Three years working as a member of the Saline Health Foundation to raise awareness of my son's rare disease process. I spent countless hours working with legislators to bring about a positive change for affected children and families. Much of my time was devoted to educating physicians, parents, teachers and the public about the disease process and offering support to suffering families. This time in my life presented new and exciting challenges for myself and afforded hope to countless families. My son's legacy and my personal dedicated work led to an official state recognized awareness day and a bill that was passed to ensure the treatment would be recognized by insurance companies. My main objective was to help families in Arkansas avoid the tragedy that our family endured.
