Immunology Lab

• The researchers in this lab were investigating the role of keratinocytes in the persistence of Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis (RRP). RRP, caused by the Human Papilloma Viruses type 6 & 11, is characterized by the recurrence of benign tumors in the upper airway. To evaluate the gene expression of keratinocytes, I retrieved neonatal foreskin and abdominal tissues from the neighboring hospital and processed the samples into a single cell suspension for microarray analysis.

• I also worked on a separate study investigating corticosteroid resistance in obese asthmatics. I was responsible for establishing controls. I presented my research to the other researchers at the Feinstein Institute and defended the theory that higher levels of Glucocorticoid Receptors Beta (GRβ) in the obese population are responsible for corticosteroid resistance.

WVSOM Designated Driver - 2024

As part of WVSOM's initiative to prevent drunk driving, I volunteer to provide students with a safe ride home on weekend nights. 

EConnected - 2020-2023
I mentored three high school students for EConnected, a nonprofit organization that provides academic support to students in NYC. The program focuses on assisting non-native English speaking students, as they often face additional barriers throughout their education. Some sessions focused on assisting the student in a particular subject, while others were dedicated to learning study skills and stress management.

Department of Health - 2020
I volunteered in the containment zone in New Rochelle to call Westchester County residents that tested positive for Covid-19. I was responsible for relaying the Covid test results and collecting information regarding their symptoms, hospitalizations, and recent contacts.
