My job as a conductor is to provide and ensure the conductor (myself) and engineer are operating by the rules and making sure we are operating under federal railroad administration safety rules to make the safest possible environment possible. From making sure the cars are in the write order, to using 3 points of contact, being on the ground tieing onto cars, watching out for slow orders and working limits on work orders, clearance restriction, hazmats placements and a bunch of others as well as making sure the engineer is doing his job and being a second pair of eyes wince its an on call 24/7 job that extremely hard on sleep schedule.
My job was using diesel saws to cut for road work plumbing and also electric sawing for indoor plumbing and sometimes electrical installation. I also would operate an electric drill to drill out holes for plumbing electrical and sometimes for other uses such as hanging scaffolding for large buildings. I was required several steps to provide safe working environment such as hearing protection, rubber boots, proper gloves for the job.
My job was to tear off and install shingles on residential homes. Also on occasion tear out and install damaged wood. Cleanup up scrap from the old roof all while working in a safe environment.
