I have a passion for working with students. I have strong classroom management skills and strategies to help students learn even if that's in a different way. I work well with others, including on committees for the good of the students and school as a whole. I have worked side by side with teachers, administration, and reported to district employees as well in my time. In addition, I collaborate with the Speech Pathologist, Social Worker, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and Vision therapist as applicable to make sure my students are getting the mandated minutes they need.
Last, I share data with my Special ed case manager and Director. This includes IEP goals and updates, data, assignments with modifications and accommodations, and communicating openly with parents. I have been lucky to have developed some great relationships. I have been in the same room my whole career so long in fact that the students I had when they were little, I now have their children in my room. And my adult students still come back and visit me.
I have implemented mainstreaming experiences for my students into the general ed classroom on a weekly basis to expose them to similar experiences.
