I grew up in East Salinas where agriculture runs our economy and where engineering isn't taught to be a pathway that we can take. As a sophomore, I participated in the Naval Postgraduate School Design Competition where my team developed an app that notifies farmers about the nutrients of their soil. The competition gave me an opportunity to demonstrate my ability to be innovative and to display my creativity. My team won the Global Solutions Grand Champion Award for outstanding and invaluable service to the community. Currently I am attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to further my passion for engineering and hopefully make in impact in my community.
