- Pittsburgh Undergraduate Research Diversity Program (PURDiP) intern working with Dr. Jared W. Magnani, the AFib Litt Study, and UPMC-Presbyterian Vascular Medicine Institute on conducting health services research using both administrative databases and developing smaller cohorts to test interventions to improve health outcomes such as adherence to medications and address social factors. We have an interest in neighborhood-based social measures, such as poverty, education, and segregation. At the end of the summer of 2022 and 2023, I presented my research projects at the Annual Duquesne University Summer Research Symposiums. My research in 2022 investigated the association of distance from health care with patient-reported outcomes in atrial fibrillation and my research in 2023 investigated how our recruitment methods were able to enhance rural and social diversity in atrial fibrillation specific clinical trials.
