Calf Health and Doctoring:

- Monitor cattle daily (often on horseback in the feedlot) to identify sick, injured, or stressed animals.
- Safely sort and remove animals requiring medical attention.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and other treatments according to established veterinary protocols.
- Assist with processing incoming calves, which may include branding, tagging, and castration.
- Maintain accurate and detailed health and treatment records.


Feeding and Nutrition:

- Prepare, mix, and distribute daily feed rations accurately for bottle fed calves.
- Monitor feed consumption and water supplies to ensure all calves receive proper nutrition and hydration.
- Clean and maintain feed bunks, water troughs (including breaking ice in winter), and pens to ensure sanitary conditions.


Herding and Livestock Movement:

- Round up/herd calves from mountain pastures, using horses

- Move cattle between pens, pastures, and to scales or load into trailers for transfer as instructed by management.
