CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Calf Health and Doctoring:

- Monitor cattle daily (often on horseback in the feedlot) to identify sick, injured, or stressed animals.
- Safely sort and remove animals requiring medical attention.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and other treatments according to established veterinary protocols.
- Assist with processing incoming calves, which may include branding, tagging, and castration.
- Maintain accurate and detailed health and treatment records.

Feeding and Nutrition:

- Prepare, mix, and distribute daily feed rations accurately for bottle fed calves.
- Monitor feed consumption and water supplies to ensure all calves receive proper nutrition and hydration.
- Clean and maintain feed bunks, water troughs (including breaking ice in winter), and pens to ensure sanitary conditions.

Herding and Livestock Movement:

- Round up/herd calves from mountain pastures, using horses

- Move cattle between pens, pastures, and to scales or load into trailers for transfer as instructed by management.
- Ensure all livestock handling is done safely and humanely, using low-stress methods.

Maintenance and General Duties:

- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on feedlot and ranch infrastructure, including fences, corrals, and barns.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such a pen clearing, and preparing for winter conditions.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Setting up and breaking down the farrier's truck/workstation.

- Pulling old shoes and cleaning hooves thoroughly.
- Fetching and handling horses, ensuring they stand calmly.
- Learning hoof trimming and rasping techniques.
- Learning to select appropriate shoes or modify existing ones.
- Practicing clinching (hammering down the nail) and finishing the hoof.

- Full hoof preparation and trimming.

- Fitting shoes, Nailing on shoes, ensuring proper fit and placement.
- Communicating with horse owners and potentially vets about hoof health.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assisting Journeymen: Following instructions from licensed electricians for various electrical tasks.

- Installation & Maintenance: Helping install, repair, and maintain wiring, lighting, power systems, and equipment.

- Material Handling: Carrying materials, tools, and equipment to job sites.

- Conduit Work: Measuring, cutting, bending, and installing conduit using hand and power tools.

- Wiring: Pulling wires through conduits and openings.

- Troubleshooting: Assisting in diagnosing electrical issues and disassembling equipment for repairs.

- Blueprint Reading: Interpreting blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.

- Safety Compliance: Adhering strictly to safety codes, OSHA regulations, and company safety procedures.

- Site Maintenance: Keeping work areas clean, organized, and safe.

Learning & Development:

- Learning and applying electrical codes (NEC) and standards.

- Developing skills in using various hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.

- Gaining knowledge of electrical systems, including low, medium, and high voltage.

CONCRETE LABORER/FINISHER

-Site Preparation: Clear and grade areas, set up forms and molds for walls, floors, or foundations.

- Reinforcement: Install rebar (reinforcing bars) or wire mesh within forms for added strength.

- Pouring: Pour it into forms, and spread it evenly.

- Finishing: Level, smooth, and texture surfaces using trowels, floats, and other tools; cut expansion joints.

- Cleanup: Maintain a tidy worksite, clean tools, and remove debris.
