Cage Washer
Kent State University
05.2023 - 08.2023
I was tasked with dumping dirty mouse and rat cages and setting them on an industrial sized dishwasher rack, and pushing that rack into the cage washer. I was also tasked with doing the same thing but with water bottles and carts. I would have to refill the cages and water bottles, and transport them to different locations. I would have to sweep and mop the floors, take out the trash, use labels and time sheets, and refill the bedding container. Sometimes I would have to inform a caretaker of a litter or mouse they missed while taking out the dirty cages.
Reason for leaving- I did not like how the animals were treated there, as it was a research facility and the animal caretakers did not do a good job of making sure the animals were well taken care of and weren’t in pain.

Sweep, clean counters, perform opening tasks (i.e., open the doors, set out signs, place carpets and matts, organize carts, open register, etc.), clean up animal accidents, restock pet merchandise, treats, and food, fill out dog license forms, sign people up for rewards card, restock towels, help people find items, help people over the phone, handle refunds, handle coupons, handle money, work the cash register, give advice on animals, give suggestions on food, products, etc., redirect people on certain items (i.e., if someone was going to buy sand for hermit crabs, I would redirect them to dirt, since it’s better for them), enter in animal purchase receipts, set aside products for people, handle curbside and Ubereats/Postmates pickups, enter in groomer receipts, perform great customer service, doing receptionist-esque duties, and heavy lifting.
Reason for leaving- I moved into an apartment in Kent in August and I couldn’t maintain working an hour away, settling into an apartment, and starting school back up. I was going to continue working there in the winter of 2021-2022, however, my dad went to the hospital in the fall/winter so I needed to be home for all of winter break. I then was going to continue working there this summer, but I realized I needed to find somewhere to work that is close by and also deals more with animals.

Starbucks
11.2019 - 09.2020
Taking orders, answering the phone, handling papers, helping train new hires, working the cash register, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning the cafe, performing great customer service, making customer connections, answering the phone, making coffee, making food, handling refunds, handling money, taking out the trash, doing dishes, restocking and dating items, making “backups” for items (i.e., making more lemonade, making more mocha syrup, making whipped cream, etc.), getting ice, restocking merchandise, brewing coffee, cleaning machines, sanitizing, and heavy lifting.
Reason for Leaving- I wanted to transfer from the Starbucks I worked at to the Starbucks in Kent because I was going to college at Kent State University. I was not able to do this, because they were too full of employees. I tried to drive from Kent to continue working at the one I was already at, but it was an hour drive and it became too much while trying to transition into college life.

Taking orders, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning the cafe, performing great customer service, answering the phone, handling money, handling refunds, working the cash register, making coffee, making food, stocking, taking out the trash, and performing receptionist-esque duties.
Reason for leaving- I had two stress fractures in my leg from playing high school hockey, and the amount of standing and moving around I had to do irritated them and made it hard to work. This issue has since been resolved.
