In 1987 my family relocated from MA to NH.
I was nominated to teach Physical Education for 3 schools in the N. Conway School District.
The Kenneth A Brett school was a K-8 school. I worked there 3 days per week.
I worked closely with a Special Education teacher with whom I sought out regarding students who
didn't seem to fit into the 7th and 8th grade course of studies.
Sara Brady and I decided to start an alternative education program that we named TEAMS.
We then met with a local group named the Tamworth Foundation. This group supported the community
by funding programs they believed had a value for the community.
They decided that our program had a value and funded it.
The program identified the students and we created a school store. Went on trips to local
businesses and taught the students that they had a value and an alternative education choice.
The program was so successful that the SAU made a commitment to fund the Alternative program
and hire full time teachers and aides. "A star was born!"
