Hi my name is Robert Guigar Jr, I am a father and a husband. I am currently employed with Michigan metal coatings company as 3rd shift production supervisor. I over see the coating process of a variety of stampings and bolts. I have been employed with this company for six years come November. I started as an operator and then learned how to operate a Hilo acquiring my certification. I also worked in the maintenance department and as a shift lead. I grew up on a dairy farm which is where my love for nature and animals stem from. I hold a passion for raising livestock, gardening, and harvesting hay. I also enjoy sharing that knowledge and love of those with my children. Such as the skills I have for farming along with some carpentry skills. Shortly after graduating highschool I worked on and off with my brother in law on his farm. His main focus was hay. The summer of 2017 I ended up working for a man named Marv. After briefly talking to him he offered me a job building pole barns. I told him I didn't have any experience in carpentry and he said "the hardest part is showing up in the morning. From there I'll teach you". I worked with him until the winter. Things got slow and with him being older he didn't like working outside, so he took a few inside jobs for himself and his son to stay afloat. He recommended me to his friend Jack who needed a couple guys to do some remodeling work to an old barn and house. I only worked a short period with Jack due to the fact that he kept not properly paying his employees and sometimes not at all. I went back to farming with my brother in law where I met my wife while delivering a load of hay. I needed a more steady job to support my growing family, so my father in law got me a job in the place I'm currently working. I have been helping my in-laws with some home remodeling and barn repairs here and there. I've wanted to get back into carpentry for sometime and have been looking for an opportunity. After looking online recently I came across the apprenticeship program you guys offer and I am looking forward to the opportunity to pursue this dream.

- I oversee the coating process of an assortment of stampings and bolts
- Make sure operators know how to read routers if either they are on loading side of line where the production process starts an how to follow the correct steps in order to complete the orders as they are needed to complete shipments or on the packaging side of the line again following the correct steps in a manner that the customer wants there product packaged either in bulk containers or boxes or totes provided by the customers
- Hilo drivers know what jobs to give to operators and what tooling (racks to use)or packaging to pack product into and maintaining safe speed and handling of hilo
- Maintenance is keeping the line running if any damaged tooling or projects are being worked on my shift
- Quality is doing proper checks on chemical maintaining the temp, top offs etc in order to keep the line running
- Bottom line running 3rd shift smoothly so 1st shift has easy time picking up where my shift left off
- Daily reports on how many pieces and racks were processed and what coatings were used
- Following a hot sheet in order to prioritize what needs to be completed first
- Working with employees on improving there skills along with disciplinary actions such as write ups or being sent home etc.
- Maintaining communication with plant manager about upcoming projects, employees raises,if we need more tooling (racks) any incidents through the night either employee medical situation or line being down needs to be reported and documented
