As an Extended Year Substitute I was to cover any class at any time. I created a positive rapport with the students as well as the staff of Magothy Middle. I would also do whatever reasonable requests the administration ask of me such as being lunchtime supervisor, recess monitor, hall monitor or wherever I was needed. As always, I would follow the lesson plans of the absent teacher.
"Have teacher skills, will travel", was my motto as a substitute teacher. I went to elementary schools including Rolling Knolls, middle schools including Magothy and Severn River Middle Schools. I substituted at many high schools and even the tech schools of CAT North and South. I also taught at the Special Education centers such as Ruth Easson and Central Special. My teacher skills included making a very positive environment while still following the lesson plans.
In my 19 years at Southern Middle, I performed various teacher roles which included being a Co-taught teacher, Functioning Life Skills teacher, Self-contained teacher, and 6th grade Social Studies teacher. For a year, I was the Special Education Department Head.
