As a Director of Operations, I was in charge of leading my team of five crews, to the installation and service of commercial signage. A typical day would start by organizing all the jobs for the day at hand followed by making sure the guys knew exactly what they were supposed to be doing as well as being prepared with all the equipment, tools, and material needed to complete the tasks at hand. After they all the left for the day, I spent the rest of the day answering phone calls related to questions and issues on site. Along with doing so, I also spent the remaining time dealing directly with the project managers preparing and scheduling future jobs. This would consist of quoting out new work, obtaining, and issuing PO's, and organizing equipment rentals needed such as cranes, ariel lifts, and excavation equipment. I was also handling all of our permitting for each and every job outside of Chicago city limits. This would include submitting all of our insurance and bond information along with job drawings, land owner approvals, and business licensing documents. At times when we were really short handed, I continued to do all of these things while performing installs in the field, either by myself of along side with my crews. By the end of the day, I would start organizing all of the material that I received during the day and would begin to go over what was in line for the following day with the crews as they came in from their day.
I continued where I have previously left off with the company as a top hand. I continued to roll out 5G upgrades along with new site builds as well for Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile. I also did so while training Technicians that were new to the field.
For the last 6 months, I have led a team of 2-6 through the installation of LED display panels. We are currently contracted by one of the worlds largest LED manufacturers. We work as a traveling install crew and have successfully installed countless large display screens for companies such as Tik Tok, Dave And Busters, and Morphe Makeup. These multimillion dollar installs are usually completed on strict deadlines ranging from 2-8 days.
My duties with MZI were exactly the same as my previous employer, Vertical Limit Construction. While working for MZI, my focused Telecom providers that I was doing installs for were AT&T and T-Mobile.
As an installation technician I performed various sign installations such as channel letter sets, raceway signs, and vinyl lay outs. While working out of boom trucks and cranes, I performed many low voltage installations including LED upgrades. I was able to do so working long hours in unfavorable conditions with short deadlines. I also performed larger installations such as pylons, monuments, and directionals using heavy equipment ex. Skid Loader and Boom Cranes.
I sold insurance claims using a door to door tactic as well as various marketing tactics. Our company performed jobs such as roofing, siding, and gutter replacements due to storm damage. I aided home owners in filing their insurance claims and met with their insurance adjusters to help approve their claims. Once their claim was approved, we performed the work necessary in replacing their damaged property. I would order material and remain on site while these homes were being built to ensure the project was built correctly. I helped in producing over $2 million in sales our first year in business.
