  • Triage Consultant is a telephonic role within a 24/7 call center department. Primary responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments of user's need for core EAP and work/life services, such as childcare, parenting, eldercare, education, general research, short-term problem resolution, legal, financial, employment assistance, emotional well-being, relationships and communication, health and wellness, work issues and other specialty and add-on services.

  • In January 2024, I was promoted to Triage Consultant Mentor. As a mentor, I assist trainers with launching new Triage Consultants during and after training, help Clinical Supervisors and Managers with special projects or complex cases, and provide support to new Triage Consultants by shadowing their calls, teaching call control, workflows, procedures, resources, and other tools to help our military community.
  • As a behavior health Triage Consultant with Military One Source, we offer all active-duty service members and their families non-medical counseling services free of charge, such as stress management, decision-making, communication, grief, blended family issues, and parenting skills.

  • In my role as a Crisis Interventionist, I was responsible for actively resolving emergency and crisis situations for individuals served by MHMR of Tarrant County and six additional Texas counties, as well as community partners such as hospitals and law enforcement.
  • The main goal of my position was to assist individuals of all ages in managing crisis situations in a trauma-informed and least restrictive manner.
  • My responsibilities included completing all clinical documentation within specified time intervals and agency parameters, exercising appropriate clinical judgment to mitigate crisis situations, and coordinating emergency and case management services with community partners, including law enforcement, to ensure appropriate continuity of care and crisis follow-up.
  • Additionally, I coordinated and assisted participants in determining which services best meet their ongoing needs and tracked their progress toward recovery goals.
  • Other job duties included intake and screening for long-term mental health services.

  • During my time as a graduate intern, I was responsible for providing psychotherapy counseling to individuals, couples, and families under the supervision of Carrie Allen, PhD, LPC-S.
  • My duties included working with both children and adults in a clinical counseling setting, with the goal of advancing my knowledge and practice in psychotherapy techniques and developing therapeutic relationships.
  • I was also tasked with conducting intake and assessments, establishing therapeutic goals in a trauma-informed setting, and developing and implementing therapy to align with those goals.
  • Additionally, I focused on building strong relationships with clients and fostering a collaborative environment with on-staff counselors to improve client care.
