University Overview

  • Science Communications Certification
  • Thesis:[Callose Dynamics During Cytokinesis In Land Plant And Ancestral Cell Walls]
  • Research Project: [ Quantitative analysis of cell plate development using lattice light sheet microscopy identifies transition points between growth phases ], [I showed the visualization of cell plate development from its first detectible point through the whole event for the first time ever, while collecting novel quantitative data on the vesicle volume dynamics over time. This data helped inform the important developmental staging of the event and role of a key polysaccharide callose. ]
  • Research Project: [ GSL8 Callose Dynamics During Cytokinesis In Land Plants ],Sub cellular characterization of a novel protein Glucan synthase like 8 (GSL8) that appears to be responsible for callose deposition at the juvenile cell wall responsible for proper growth and development of the mature cell wall and complete division.
  • Research Project:

Callose Dynamics During Cytokinesis In Ancestral Cell Walls, [Continued depth of understanding of the role of the key developmental cell wall polysaccharide callose in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii . Following up the work done by my lab mate that showed that single celled algae do indeed require callose to divied such as Penium margaritaceum , I showed that not only doe C. reinhardtii have callose in their cell walls but that it is involved in their cytokenetic junktions. ]
