Provided patient care, performed assessments, and interventions at a 10-bed medical surgical ICU unit. Assessed patients’ condition, notified physicians of clinical changes as well as prepared and implemented patient care plans. Monitored vital signs, adequacy of ventilation, and levels of consciousness and pain. Administered medications as determined by the patient’s condition (IV, Sub-Q, etc.) Communicated the patient’s condition to family members in a compassionate manner.

Closely monitor patients to identify signs of arrhythmias and other life-threatening complications. Interpret EKG strips. Responsible for administering prescribed medications and perform treatment of patients as prescribed by physician. Educate patients and families on disease prevention, healthy diet and exercise, and lifestyle changes. Ensure that the service meets the expected goals and objectives of the organization.

Manage between 9-10 patient assignments per shift in a fast paced setting while prioritizing patient care. Identify emergency situations and take appropriate actions in a timely manner in coordination with health care team members. Provide direct patient care using the nursing process to coordinate the care of patients and families. Prioritize and delegate assignments to nursing assistants and licensed practical nurses.

Cared for oncology and hematology clients. Assessed patients' physical, mental, and emotional status as well as nutrition, pain, and family involvement. Provided support and guidance throughout treatment by communicating and working in collaboration with the medical staff on behalf of the patients.

Worked directly in an outpatient clinic with a team consisting of MD's, MSW, RN's, Dietician's, Dialysis Technicians and support staff providing initial and post hemodialysis treatment for ambulatory and bed bound patients with chronic renal failure.
