- Took part in training course for 3 weeks before going out on boats on identifying organisms that would be seen and how to handle sea birds, marine mammals, and turtles if caught.
- Inspected equipment on vessels before trips such as life rafts, EPIRBs, fire extinguishers, and communication equipment
- Identified 30+ species of fish, sharks, and birds seen while at sea
- Recorded every fish/animal caught by the vessel during the hauls for each trip using data collection papers that were given.
- Measured and sexed fishes or marine animals when it was required and kept a recorded of it.
- Took pictures of the specimens when required for identification.
- Worked on 4 vessels that were around 77ft for an average of 3 weeks at a time
- Entered all data collected during tips into NOAA database after trip was concluded under the supervision of NOAA debriefers
