As a Correctional Officer III (COIII), my responsibilities were as follows: managed a caseload approximately 175 inmates to ensure release packets and programs were completed, resolving inmates questions, letters, informal complaints and/or any issues at the lowest possible level through communication or written response. As a I filled the following positions: COIII Training Officer, and back up to the Detention Unit and COIV (supervisor) and Community Corrections Liaison (CCL) where I monitored all releases for the complex, make contact with other State and Federal Agencies( ICE US MARSHALLS, PHOENIX PD, COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPT for exchange of inmates custody. Communicated with Community Correction Officer’s to ensure the process was completed and answered any questions that arose in the process of a release investigation. Interact with inmates to provide guidance. Conduct classification reviews by reviewing inmate’s institutional file, computer records, and interviewing inmates making institutional need consultation referrals, Schedule parole board hearings, recommend appropriate actions for Custody level for an institutional setting. Provides assistance to inmates seeking access to courts arrange attorney visits, phone calls legal calls. Maintain record of work performed and pay due to inmates in accordance with governing federal and state law and agency guidelines. As a Correction Officer II (COII), Performs duties and exercises delegated responsibility and authority providing security, order, and discipline inmates in a variety of assignments within or outside an adult institution. Controls inmates who become unruly or lose self - control; apply appropriate disciplinary measures, prepare reports of incidents. Counts inmates entering and leaving specified areas as security and control check. Writing incident and other required reports in a prescribed format and in a timely manner.
