My undergraduate major was Mathematical Sciences, where I main studied courses like calculus, linear algebra, and statistical analysis.
In my first year of graduate school, I used R and QGIS in an urban and regional analysis course to study the distribution of elderly populations and medical facilities. And my master's research focused on Japan's compact city policies. Compact cities aim to concentrate urban populations by developing facilities or transportation networks. In some regional cities in Japan, this approach helps reduce population decline. Making cities more compact can impact how residents travel. Changes in travel habits can affect people's health and lifespan. So my research mainly uses population data to analyze and compare the situation before and after the policy was implemented.
