  • For over a year, was a legal assistant. Supported children ages 0-17 in a shelter in Carrizo Springs, Texas until its closure. Held zoom meetings with children to gather information on their journeys to the US and documented their needs and asylum requests. Created intake, talked to interpreters and also flagged attorneys on any severe cases of abuse, trafficking, harsh country conditions or children who were with no families and stayed orphans.
  • Collaborated with legal team to achieve project objectives supporting adults, children, and families seeking asylum in Texas detention centers. Collected data from intakes, created client profiles from ICE lists and hotline calls, and prepared G-28 forms for attorneys. Documented advocacy concerns regarding country conditions, medical issues, and mistreatment while compiling daily reports and updating casework and case notes. Worked on daily numbers, ADVO hashtags and collected case note information and created the data for it.
  • Pursued continuing education and advanced training, earning CLE credits from UT Law Austin and Texas Immigration Law Council to enhance knowledge in immigration law.

Volunteer work

  • Did volunteer work in church for over 6 years. Was chosen as youth leader for a year in 2002 at Iglesia Cristiana Piedra Angular in Laredo, Texas. Did several missionary trips to help people in Mexico.
  • Went in 2024 to Egypt, tried to join an organization beforehand to volunteer in Gaza, but it was complicated to join last minute. Did it on my own and met a Palestinian family on my own, via social media connections. Family fled to Egypt at the start of the genocide in 2023.
  • In great speaking terms with a Palestinian family in Gaza via social media for over 2 years now, whom I donate money to.
