Ryan Compeau

• Current broadcast television sports director performing and producing shows for viewers and followers daily. Works alongside news management to coordinate coverage and planning for the sports department.
• Lead efforts in coming up with weekly sports plan for high school football shows for both sports departments, who covers what, and which affiliates to reach out to for highlights or teams in our viewing area.
• Spent two months working by myself in a normal four-person sports department during playoff season for spring sports, executing my expertise in time management to get content and shows on-air daily.

Broadcast television weekend sports reporter along with being a news reporter during the week. I worked alongside news and sports management to coordinate daily responsibilities. I gathered, produced, and anchored weekend sportscasts and wrote and edited compelling community news stories

• I enterprised compelling news stories, filmed and edited video, reported live in the field or in the studio, and created online content. I worked with management to lay-out plans for the week of my stories for not only news but sports as well to help both out during my work week.

• I started with Wood TV 8 in the early summer of 2017 as a sports freelancer, before working my way up to the assignment news editor position during my time while also going to school at Central Michigan.
• As the assignment news editor, I listened to scanners for breaking news, helped post content to the website, and helped run the daily morning newsroom meeting.
• As a freelancer, I was fortunate enough to travel all over the state of Michigan filming games and talking with local coaching and athletes.
