I am an individual who can multitask, I work well with others and in a fast-paced environment. I have a strong work ethic with a superior attendance record and excellent work performance. I am a well-regarded history major bringing demonstrated knowledge of world history honed over five plus years of education. I am able to identify and evaluate sources to trace events and historical evidence. I am competent in enhancing research in order to trace political, social, and economic trends using wide range of sources.
For the past two years, I have been volunteering to work with a young man who is totally blind. He lost his vision when he was nine years old due to a glioblastoma (brain tumor). In addition to vision loss, he suffers from mild cognitive delays. I was told the wanted to learn how to play chess, therefore, that is what I have been teaching him. In the beginning, I had to tactually orient him to the chess board and help him to determine the white and black chess pieces. With time and patience, he has become a worthy chess opponent. He also enjoys playing UNO. He has Braille UNO cards which tell him the color and the number. I often join him and a small group of his family members to play the game. Working with this young man has truly been a rewarding and life changing experience.
