I have been very interested in working in the Special Victims Unit with the Sex Offender Detail team. Within the past year I have reached out to Sergeant St John and worked multiple days with her unit. I was able to get a training day and work with the unit and was able to see what their daily work entailed. I went out with Detective Fields and assisted him in sex offender checks and learned the databases used for information sharing with other jurisdictions. I also worked an emphasis detail with Sergeant St John and conducted sex offender checks throughout the City.
I enjoyed the work and being out of the office and with the public to help ensure the offenders are in compliance to help keep the community safe.
Primary responsibilities in SPOC were event planning and documentation with Incident Action Plans. Events ranged from small demonstrations to large citywide events such as Pride Weekend. Worked in SPOC under Sgt Kelly, Sgt Shopay, and Sgt Fliegel.
As a West Precinct CPT Officer I worked under Sergeant Alcantara and Sergeant O'Neil. I was assigned to King Sector. A large portion of this job was meeting with the community members ranging from large personal safety meetings with companies and their employers to crime preventions meetings with residents in their neighborhoods.
Prior to working CPT I was assigned to a morning bike squad, Neighborhood Response Team. This had a similar job description as CPT and we spent a lot of time with the community in King and Mary Sectors with high visible patrols. In NRT I was supervised by Sergeant Byrd.
In Night Bikes, I worked in a team environment in a very proactive unit under Sergeant Kraus. While working with this team, we conducted Narcotics operations on a daily basis such as "see pops" and buy busts with ACT. A large portion of our jobs also involved demonstration management resulting from the demonstrations that occurred after the Ferguson riots.
While on the East Precinct Anti Crime Team, we primarily conducted proactive street level narcotics operations. During my time in ACT I completed SPD Undercover School, Mobile surveillance Training, and ACT School. I served in numerous different positions during dynamic search warrants. During buy bust operations, I worked both as a u/c and as close cover.
During my time on 3rd Watch Patrol I worked under Sergeant Unger in George Sector. In George Sector, there were multiple hospitals in my sector of responsibility and I gained experience investigating and documenting numerous types of assaults.
Aside from mandatory training, I have completed numerous other courses that have benefited the department and my career
