Service Roles: Served in various roles and duties that changed with duty stations and environments. While in Ft Sill, I was primarily a heavy vehicle operator assigned to load and deliver patriot missiles and other class 1.1 explosive ammunitions across the country as a part of tactical convoy operations. Transferred to Ft Bliss, TX. During garrison operations I was responsible for the operation and maintenance of military vehicles as my primary job. I also specialized in operating heavy loading equipment including 10,000 lb extending-boom diesel forklifts. Signed for and held accountable for over 10 million dollars of equipment and gear. Trained and lead junior soldiers within the unit, passing on my experience to them. Held responsible for management of 5-30 soldiers. Attended and completed multiple military leadership and training schools, becoming a subject matter expert in loading operations, convoy tactics and procedures. I played a primary role as a convoy commander in a convoy with internal security elements during Operation Iraqi Freedom. I coordinated protection for large convoy elements of 30 or more local national trucks and military trucks. I was in charge of the loading and safety of high value military equipment and personnel. Assigned to a platoon that orchestrated security and logistical support in over 80+ successful combat missions during 2, 12 month tours.
Recognized by several officers for outstanding service to my units. I was recommended for a bronze star for my duties as a Convoy Commander in Iraq. I received a Meritorious Service Medal, 4 Army Commendation Medals, an Army Achievement Medal, 3 Good Conduct Medals and other awards during my military service. I never had a negative mark during Army service or driving record. I Safely operated military vehicles, earned enough safe miles and driving time to obtain the Army Driver's Badge. I also maintained accountability of over 10 million dollars in personally assigned equipment while in service.
