Barista focused on transferring his own love of coffee, knowledge of coffee's history and modern day societal and climate impacts, while encouraging a welcoming culture as well as ethical sourcing and working conditions.
Around June of 2025 I made the decision to bring my love of coffee from a hobby to a professional pursuit, applying and being accepted as a barista at Starbucks. I have found nothing but joy in completing the tasks that this role has offered me, forming new bonds with every customer I greet at the register, taking time to make every drink to standard, exceeding expectations by learning latte art (Rosetta and Heart) to ensure every customer is getting the most bang for their buck.
My experience as a shadowing student under Dr. Mozayan, an Emergency Medicine Physician, taught me a variety of skills that include, but are not limited to, critical thinking, time management, deescalation, and collaboration. In the ER I would spend every moment next to the physician, taking careful notes as to what they are doing to best assist their patients, and debriefing afterwards the motives and results of each of these choices.
