Volunteering (newly added to my resume after listening to Unit 4 resume videos)

  • After a recent experience during Christmas break 2023, I encountered a homeless military veteran. I sat with the gentleman and learned about the individual challenges he faces with mental illness and PTSD that prevent him from seeking the assistance he needs to overcome his drug addiction. I was moved by the gentleman's story and his concern for other military veterans who are homeless and struggle with the same challenges. The experience and conversation inspired me to begin volunteering with a mental illness advocacy organization working to provide free mental health care and drug addiction counseling to homeless military veterans in Las Vegas Nevada.
