Austin Industrial is one of the nation’s largest, most diversified construction companies that provides civil, commercial, and industrial services. As a carpenter, I am responsible for all door closers and minor repairs throughout the paper mill. My work week consists of daily activities to be completed according to a work schedule. My duties can vary from framing crates to hanging bulletin boards and assisting in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix. Other jobs may require:

• Optimized workflow by assigning tasks based on individual skills, ultimately enhancing overall team performance.
• Moving heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
• Excavate and fills trenches and ditches.
• The use of powered industrial equipment, materials and supplies in an industrial setting.
• Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.

Here, I encounter considerable demands within the homebuilding process. At the start of each shift, we were given building plans and schedules of the homes for completion according to the dates of purchase. e.g. Single size, Family size (multi floors) and or Town Homes units.

Here, I worked in the “Headers Department” which consisted of building all structural beams installed over an opening for each home, as shown in the blueprints. (eg. interior & exterior windows and doors).

• The ability to read and interpret blueprints to follow specifications of the project as informed in the blueprints.
• The ability to read a tape measure and display the proper use of power tools such as, electrical saws and nail guns.
• Measure materials to determine sizes and quantity required for construction project.
• Reduced material waste by precisely measuring, cutting, and assembling lumber for various construction projects.
• Demonstrated versatility in carpentry techniques, working proficiently with both hand tools and power tools to achieve desired results.
